Before your appointment
How to Prepare
- Avoid plucking or waxing your brows before your appointment.
- Skip caffeine and coffee the morning of your appointment.
- Avoid exfoliating products for 72 hours before, including glycolic acid, Retin-A, Renova and alpha hydroxy acids.
- No face scrubs or chemical peels for at least two weeks before.
Most importantly: avoid coffee, alcohol, ibuprofen, aspirin and any medication or vitamins that may thin your blood for at least 24 hours before your appointment.
Candidacy
Conditions That May Prevent Service
- Coffee, aspirin or alcohol within 24 hours of your appointment
- Pregnancy (doctor’s statement required)
- Breastfeeding
- Medications other than vitamins, birth control or allergy medication (for example, blood pressure medication)
- Keloids or a tendency to keloid
- Birthmarks, pimples or moles in the service area
- Diabetes
- Serious conditions such as cancer, epilepsy or autoimmune disorders (doctor’s statement required)
- Circulatory or bleeding disorders (doctor’s statement required)
- Blood-thinning medication within 2 months of service
- Accutane or strong retinoids (wait 6 months after treatment ends)
- Skin disease, lesions, acne or irritation in the service area
- Botox or Dysport (wait 2 months)
- Existing permanent makeup not performed by LaBrows Beauty Studio
- Broken capillaries or raised bumps in the service area
- Sunburn
- Waxing within the last 3 days, or a chemical peel within the last 2 weeks
If your appointment must be canceled because of any of these conditions, you are still responsible for the appointment time, and retainer fees are non-refundable.
What to expect
Your Healing Journey
Semi-permanent brow services, day by day.
- Day 1
You may experience redness. Depending on the pigment, you may also see an orange cast from oxidation. It fades within a few hours.
- Day 2
Your brows may look noticeably darker than on day one. This is the natural oxidation process as the pigment reacts with oxygen.
- Day 3
The brow area begins to form a light crust. Keep applying a thin layer of ointment. Avoid over-applying.
- Days 4–8
The crust continues and begins to shed. Never pick at it! Peeling early can pull out pigment or cause minor scarring. Let it shed naturally.
- Day 9+
The crust is gone and your brows may look very faint. Don’t panic! Color returns gradually, usually by week two. Full healing takes about four weeks.
- Day 30
Brows appear about 30% lighter than day one, with a soft, powdery finish. Protect them with daily sunscreen and enjoy!
Semi-permanent brow aftercare
Care for Your New Brows
Day 1
- Gently blot the brow area with distilled water every hour.
- Before bed, apply a thin layer of ointment with a cotton swab. Never use your fingertips.
Days 2–10
- Do not wet your brows or let makeup or other products touch the area.
- Avoid excessive sweating.
- Do not help the peeling process. Let the skin shed naturally.
- Apply a thin layer of ointment once daily with a cotton swab until a light scab forms. If it looks over-saturated, skip a day.
Days 11–14
- Gently cleanse your brows with a mild soap.
- You may begin wearing makeup again.
- Avoid swimming and chlorine for 14 days after your procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I get to choose my brow shape?
Your brow shape is designed with five key measurements based on your face shape and structure. These points are a guide, and LaJoy will not begin until you approve the outlined shape.
Does it hurt?
Your comfort is very important. A topical numbing agent is applied during your procedure, and on a scale of 1–10, most clients rate it about a 3.
How long is a brow appointment?
Plan for up to 4 hours. The procedure itself takes about 50 minutes. The rest of the time is for paperwork, numbing, consultation, shape design and your questions, plus any extra time to make sure you love your results.
I have oily skin. Can I still get permanent brows?
Very oily skin is not ideal for some services. Microblading is the least ideal, since pigment only sits in each stroke and whole strokes can fade. Shading (Ombré Powder Brows) or Combo Brows with more shading than strokes hold pigment much better on oily skin.
Who is not an ideal client?
Clients prone to keloid scarring, clients with pre-existing brow tattoos, and clients with excessively oily skin, large pores, thick skin or eyebrow keratosis, which can affect how pigment is absorbed.
How often will I need a touch-up?
Strokes placed too closely blur together as they heal, so LaJoy applies your first strokes moderately and lets them heal for 6–8 weeks. At your perfecting session she adds pigment for your desired look. After that, you won’t need to return for at least 18 months.
How long will my brows last?
Most brows last 12–24 months, and some last longer. Skin type, age and lifestyle all play a role. Because pigment isn’t implanted as deeply as a traditional tattoo, it fades gradually, so plan a color boost every 12–18 months.

Booking & cancellation
Our Policy
- A $50 non-refundable retainer fee is required to reserve your appointment and is applied to your service total.
- Please book at least 48 hours in advance.
- Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours before your appointment. Later cancellations are subject to a 50% late cancellation fee charged to your card on file.
- No-shows are charged 100% of the service. Arriving 15 minutes or more late is considered a no-show.
- All sales are final. There are no refunds for services rendered. Reasonable accommodations may be offered at LaBrows Beauty’s discretion.
- Please don’t book multiple appointments you don’t intend to keep, so our calendar stays open for other clients.
